Trainer John Sadler will weigh up options for Saturday’s Flemington debut winner Sell In May with next month’s Karaka Million at Ellerslie a possibility.
The Starcraft filly did not surprise the trainer when she got up for a narrow win over Glimmer and Donna Cattiva in the 1000m straight dash.
“It’s a possibility, she’s going out for a fortnight’s break or just short of that and there is a chance she will go to New Zealand,” Sadler said.
“It’ll be either that or the Blue Diamond Preview.
“But we would try and measure up how the form looked for the Karaka Million as to whether it was worthwhile.”
The Listed Karaka Milllion (1200m) is run on January 29, the eve of the Karaka Premier Yearling Sale while the Listed Blue Diamond Preview (1000m) for fillies is at Caulfield on January 26.
Sell In May, a $NZ100,000 yearling purchase, picked up $42,700 for her connections with her home track victory which makes her the top qualifier for the Karaka Million ahead of Silver City ($NZ31,750).
“We’ve liked her for some time and it was a good run,” Sadler said of the Flemington win.
“You’d have to have a query on the form though with the Snowden filly (Harpers) coming out at the barrier.
“She (Harpers) trialled better than her at Cranbourne but she’d come on a lot.”
Queensland trainer Liam Birchley was successful in the 2010 Karaka Million with Sister Havana a year after coming second with Sarge In Charge.
